VETERANS STADIUM

When the existing signage was torn down after an Eagles football game in 1992, I was tasked with redesigning a system for Philadelphia’s aging Veterans Stadium. The 1970’s dual-sport stadium had an overall grey appearance and I needed to create signage that stood out against the drab environs. I chose a stark black and white field which helped the section numbers pop, and used the gold and blue Liberty Bell logo to add a splash of color. I also designed a mounting system for the new signage that would be Eagles fans-proof and last until the old stadium was retired in 2004. It is no mere coincidence that the Phillies went to the World Series in 1993 – the same year my signage system was installed in their stadium…
